David M. Geliebter, Chairman and Co-Founder
David is an accomplished serial entrepreneur with five decades of experience starting and growing businesses. Prior to founding Critical Diagnostics, David started and ran the Carson Group, one of the world's most successful financial information and advisory companies. Additionally, he was a founding principal and President of Evolution Capital, a healthcare investment bank. Both Carson Group and Evolution Capital were sold to the Thomson Corporation (now Thomson-Reuters) in 2000. David is the Managing Partner of Carrot Capital Healthcare Ventures and is on the board of Remedy Pharmaceuticals. David is a recipient of the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award.

“I have many hobbies, among them writing. I’ve authored four books, all non-fiction. The latest, Camelot Revisited, is a look at the people and events surrounding 1963 and how four individuals, John Kennedy, Nikita Khrushchev, Martin Luther King, Jr. and George Wallace changed the world forever and set America on the path it’s still on today. I wrote a book about homelessness and addiction (Underbelly) that was featured on Oprah’s radio channel, and another about the murder of a man who collaborated on the Curious George children’s books, but who’s private life took him into the twisted adult world of sex and violence (Spank the Monkey). My most successful book is called Fun with Hypnosis. It’s a how-to guide to stage hypnosis, another hobby borne from my love of magic. ‘You are getting sleepy, very sleepy…’”

James V. Snider, Ph.D., President
James has extensive experience in product development and operations in both startup and large companies. Prior to joining Critical Diagnostics, James was the Executive Vice President of Business & Operations for IntelligentMD, an early-stage medical device company that focuses on the essential elements of disease diagnostics and therapeutic intervention. Previously, he spent eight years at Applied Biosystems (ABI). James holds a B.S. in chemistry from Grand Valley State University and a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of South Carolina.

“Born and raised in rural Michigan, I always had an active lifestyle—which included hunting, fishing, training horses for my 4H program and, of course, high school sports, where I was an all conference linebacker on the football team (the Reed City Coyotes) and an all state wrestler. Academically, I was inclined toward science, so I chose chemistry as my major. My senior year I was in the National Honor Society as the outstanding chemistry student and was awarded a college scholarship. Away from the office I tend to continue the active lifestyle of my youth. I’m especially partial to water sports. I’ve been an avid sailor for many years and since becoming a San Diego resident have taken up surfing. I am also quite fond of California red wine and have been known to enjoy a bottle from time to time.”

Sven M. Jacobson, Director, Co-Founder
Sven has co-founded five healthcare startups and has served as CEO and CFO of each at various times during their development. He has experience in cardiovascular, orthopedic, and neurological therapeutic, device and diagnostic development. Sven has been CEO of Remedy Pharmaceuticals since 2007. Additionally, he runs the day-to-day operations of Carrot Capital Healthcare Ventures.

“I admit it, I’m a foodie and will try virtually any cuisine, although right now, I definitely skew to Japanese, Korean, Chinese (particularly Szechuan) and Thai. I live to eat, and if I’m not working on something really interesting or hanging out with my family, I’m probably eating or researching what to eat. I’m a huge fan of hole in the wall restaurants and will eat anywhere, no matter how dingy, as long as the food is great. I practice yoga but am a horror movie fanatic, proving that enlightenment doesn’t come easy. I came to Manhattan a dozen years ago (where I live with the love of my life and our two wild kids) via Johannesburg, and am a New Yorker through and through - I ALWAYS fold my pizza.”
